 Apple Cider Recipe




Ingredients:
8 cups of apple cider (freshly pressed is best)
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
4 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon of whole cloves
1 teaspoon of whole allspice berries
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
Optional: 1/4 cup of brown sugar or maple syrup for added sweetness
Equipment Needed:
Large pot or slow cooker
Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer
Ladle
Instructions:
Preparation: Cut your orange and lemon into rounds and your ginger into thin pieces.

Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, combine the apple cider, orange and lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, allspice berries, and ginger slices.

Sweeten: Add brown sugar or maple syrup to the pot if you prefer a sweeter cider.

Simmer: Place the pot on the stove and bring the mixture to a low simmer. Let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, but up to 2 hours for more robust flavor.

Strain: Use a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer to remove all the solid pieces, leaving only the liquid in the pot.
Serve: Ladle the hot apple cider into mugs, garnish with a cinnamon stick or an orange slice, and enjoy!
